# Huddles and AI notes

> Start a voice call from a channel or direct message and capture a shared recap.

Voice calls are called **huddles** in Mantle. Start one from a channel for a team discussion or from a direct message
for a one-to-one call.

## Start or join a huddle

Select the headphones button in the conversation header. Other people can join from the same channel or direct message.
During the call you can mute your microphone, choose an audio output, see participants, and leave when you are done.

Leaving does not end the huddle for everyone else.

## Turn on AI notes

If AI notes are available in your workspace, a participant can start the AI notetaker during the huddle.

Before you start it, make sure everyone knows that:

* the notetaker joins the call;
* it transcribes what participants say;
* the transcript and recap are saved in Mantle;
* everyone in the huddle can see that notes are active.

You can stop AI notes without ending the huddle.

<Warning>
  Get the permission required by your company and local law before recording or transcribing a call. Do not use AI notes
  for a conversation that should not be recorded.
</Warning>

## Use the recap

After the call, Mantle prepares a recap in the conversation. It can include:

* a short summary;
* key decisions;
* action items and owners;
* the participants and call length.

Review the recap before treating it as a record. AI can miss a name, number, or decision. Correct important details in
the channel or in a linked canvas.

If Linear is connected, you can turn a follow-up message into an issue without leaving Mantle.

<Note>
  Huddle and AI-note availability can depend on your plan and workspace rollout. AI-note minutes are separate from
  normal AI chat credits.
